At least according to E.T. Bell, Men of Mathematics, New York: Simon and Schuster, 1937, p. xv. This is a well-known and rather influential book on the lives of many mathematicians, including Kronecker. One of the best stories is that of Galois, which has been revealed as embellished (to be polite). So who knows whether Bell can be trusted with his quotes?
